What is Cinemore?
Cinemore is a high-performance cross-platform video player designed to help users organize and play videos stored locally, on NAS devices, or in cloud storage, with unified media library management and high-quality playback across devices.
What platforms does Cinemore support?
Cinemore is available on iOS (iPhone/iPad), macOS, Apple TV, Android, and Android TV, so you can access your media library seamlessly across devices.
Is Cinemore free to use?
Cinemore offers a free version with core playback and library features. Advanced capabilities are available through paid tiers. See the download page for details.
Playback
What video formats does Cinemore support?
Cinemore supports popular formats including MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV, and more. The player is built on FFmpeg for broad compatibility.
Does Cinemore support hardware acceleration?
Yes. Cinemore prioritizes hardware decoding for H.264, H.265 (HEVC), VP9, AV1, and other modern codecs for smooth, low-power playback.
How does Cinemore handle subtitles?
Cinemore supports embedded subtitles, external subtitle files (SRT, ASS, etc.), and online subtitle search. You can adjust size, delay, and other parameters.
Media Library
How does Cinemore organize my media files?
Cinemore distinguishes movies and TV shows from file naming patterns, scrapes metadata for posters and cast details, and presents everything in an intuitive library view.
Which storage sources can I add to Cinemore?
You can add local folders, network shares (Samba/SMB, WebDAV, FTP), and cloud services such as Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox in one unified library.
How does metadata scraping work?
Cinemore analyzes file names to identify titles, then fetches details from online databases automatically. You can also correct mismatches manually.
Private Server
Is Cinemore Server required?
No. You can use the Cinemore client to play local, network-share, or cloud files directly. Cinemore Server adds centralized scraping, permission management, multi-device sync, and private-cloud access.
Where can I deploy Cinemore Server?
Cinemore Server supports Linux and macOS, can be deployed with Docker, and is suitable for NAS devices, mini PCs, or home servers.
What is the difference between private cloud mode and local mode?
Local mode is best for direct playback on one device. Private cloud mode uses Server to manage the library, metadata, accounts, and permissions, then distributes the same content to mobile and TV devices.
Accounts & Sync
Does Cinemore support multiple users?
Yes. With Cinemore Server, you can create separate users for family members so watch history, permissions, and preferences stay independent.
Can watch progress sync across devices?
Yes. In private cloud mode, Cinemore can sync watch progress across phones, computers, Apple TV, Android TV, and other supported devices.
Are my media files uploaded to Cinemore?
No. Cinemore is designed for private media libraries. Your files stay in your local, NAS, or configured storage location; Server indexes, manages, and serves access to them.
Troubleshooting
Why did a movie match the wrong poster or description?
Common causes include inconsistent file names, missing season or episode markers, or unavailable entries in the metadata source. Use clear title, year, season, and episode naming, then correct matches manually when needed.
What should I check first if playback stutters?
Start with network bandwidth, NAS disk performance, video codec requirements, and device hardware decoding support. Stable local networking and hardware decoding matter most for high-bitrate 4K, HDR, or Blu-ray content.
What can I do if subtitles are out of sync or render incorrectly?
Adjust subtitle delay in the player, switch subtitle tracks, or use another external subtitle file. For ASS subtitles, check file encoding and style compatibility.
